About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to build your clinical and operational skills. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to gain a broad overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide caring service and contribute to a safe, inclusive culture for all patients and colleagues.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Support immunization clinics by educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and documenting patient information.
- Consistently apply Standard Operating Procedures and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
