About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your classroom education and real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This program provides hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while you work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional workflows while contributing to the daily success of the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy operations to ensure accurate and timely prescription fulfillment.
- Apply Standard Operating Procedures and best practices across all workstations, including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Maintain strict compliance with patient privacy and security regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or the ability to obtain it as required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain focus, pivot between tasks, and perform mathematical calculations for prescription dispensing.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Preferred: Ability to travel to other store locations within the market to meet business needs.
