    About the role#

    This internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in museum operations. You will work alongside curatorial staff at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol, Virginia. The program allows you to focus your time on areas that interest you, such as exhibits, collections, volunteer management, or educational programming.

    What you'll do#

    • Help develop a training video series for museum volunteers.
    • Create condition reports for objects entering or leaving the collection.
    • Assist with the installation and deinstallation of special exhibits.
    • Help plan and run educational programs and public events.
    • Proofread museum lesson plans and research media assets like images and videos.
    • Support basic maintenance of the collection and related records.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be a high school student, with preference given to seniors.
    • You must be at least 16 years old.
    • An interest in museum work, including exhibits, collections, or public programs.
    • Majors in History, Communications, Media Studies, or Art are relevant to this work.

    Location & details#

    • This is an on-site position located in Bristol, Virginia.
    • This is a paid, part-time internship with a rolling term.
    • Please note that sponsorship is not available for this role.
