    About the role#

    This is a full-time, 8-month engineering co-op position based in Surrey. You will work with engineers and managers across different departments to support the design and operation of natural gas facilities and pipelines. This role provides insight into the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.

    What you'll do#

    • Design natural gas facilities and pipelines, including equipment sizing, selection, and stress analysis.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to complete capital projects.
    • Conduct engineering assessments to identify infrastructure deficiencies and opportunities.
    • Write technical reports and proposals for existing and proposed projects.
    • Research and develop design standards.
    • Recommend process improvements while ensuring compliance with industry and company codes.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a university co-op program, preferably in your third or fourth year of a Mechanical Engineering degree.
    • Experience or knowledge of CAD applications.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to interpret mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
    • Experience writing memos and reports in a corporate environment.
    • Competence in public speaking.
    • A valid driver's license.
