About the role#
GBA is looking for Civil Engineering students to join our Transportation market for a Summer 2027 internship. You will work within our Bridge group in an on-site, full-time capacity. This is a paid position where you will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design and 3D modeling of bridges.
- Help with design calculations and geometric layouts.
- Support quality control processes and follow client design standards.
- Prepare plan quantities and cost estimates.
- Participate in field assignments, including construction inspections.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplined design team.
- Engage in an active learning environment with mentorship from senior staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Civil Engineering or a related field at an accredited school.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework.
- A GPA of 2.7 or higher is strongly preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Involvement in campus, community, or volunteer organizations.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Excel is preferred.
- Prior experience with transportation or bridge projects is a plus.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods and lift up to 10 pounds.
