About the role#
Great Plains Manufacturing offers a summer internship for students interested in Test Engineering. You will work at one of our R&D facilities in the Salina, Kansas area. This internship provides an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects involving the design and manufacturing of agricultural or construction equipment. You will be paired with a mentor and work alongside peers throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Complete a specific project under the guidance of a mentor.
- Collaborate with engineers and production floor team members.
- Participate in test engineering tasks related to agricultural or construction equipment design.
- Engage in organized summer activities and community events with other interns and employees.
- Travel occasionally to other states if required by your specific project.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Ag Systems, or a related engineering major.
- Completion of at least 30 credit hours before the internship begins.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic knowledge of CAD software.
- Strong project management, organization, and planning skills.
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely.
- A team player mindset with good interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking skills and a positive approach to problem-solving.
- A valid driver license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to live within commuting distance of Salina or Abilene, KS.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Location & details#
- Location: Salina, Kansas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Mid-May to Early-August).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Interns work a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Compensation: This is a paid position at $20 per hour.
- Housing: Provided for interns who reside outside the Salina area.
