About the role#
As a Sales Agronomist, you will act as a trusted advisor to farmers. This role focuses on building relationships, understanding specific operational challenges, and delivering recommendations that drive yield and profitability. You will report to the Agronomy Department Manager and work with the team to expand our market presence.
What you'll do#
- Assess customer operations to identify product gaps and growth opportunities.
- Build lasting relationships through consistent, year-round engagement.
- Prospect and develop new business to convert leads into long-term partnerships.
- Share technical expertise and agronomy tools to help farmers make informed decisions.
- Recommend solutions that optimize yields and improve return on investment.
- Partner with location leadership to develop strategies for product mix and margins.
- Stay current on market trends, emerging technologies, and product developments.
- Meet or exceed annual sales targets while expanding product adoption at existing accounts.
What you'll need#
- An Associate degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Business, or a related field is preferred.
- A strong understanding of sales strategies and agronomy or crop consulting.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to obtain a Class A CDL and Hazmat certification.
- Physical ability to visit fields, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Pella, Iowa.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5pm, with occasional Saturdays during the anhydrous season.
- This is a full-time position.
