About the role#
We are hiring an Editorial Lead to build the storytelling engine for the Student Collective. You will identify how students use our products and turn those experiences into stories, resources, and campaigns. This role requires a mix of editorial judgment, reporting, and creative production. You will own our student storytelling system across public channels and internal briefings, working to bring OpenAI teams closer to real student use cases.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain a public home for student stories, project spotlights, and learning resources.
- Establish a publishing cadence that helps students learn from one another.
- Interview students and review their projects to identify moments worth amplifying.
- Create stories across written profiles, social posts, videos, and guides.
- Manage the recruitment marketing campaign for the Student Collective, including launch messaging and promotional materials.
- Experiment with AI-native workflows to improve editorial speed and quality.
- Partner with internal teams to share student insights and stories.
What you'll need#
- Excellent writing and editorial judgment.
- Experience in journalism, communications, content strategy, or documentary-style storytelling.
- Strong interviewing instincts and the ability to identify compelling narratives.
- Deep curiosity and fluency with AI tools.
- High agency and comfort building systems in an ambiguous environment.
- Ability to work with students, creators, developers, or educators.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a pipeline of stories and partners.
- A degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Media Studies, or Marketing.

- This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, California.
- The position is paid.
