About the role#
Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Technician for a full-time co-op position. You will assist office engineers and project managers with daily project tasks while gaining hands-on field experience. This role requires a commitment of 4 to 6 consecutive months starting in Winter 2027. You will spend approximately 90% of your time working outside of the office at job sites within the Greater Boston area.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation and monitor earthwork and foundation activities.
- Collect soil and groundwater samples.
- Conduct in-situ density testing and gather instrumentation data.
- Assist with site characterization, subsurface investigation, and infrastructure project execution.
- Review design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Evaluate subsurface geotechnical and environmental data.
- Communicate with project teams and prepare field reports.
- Maintain on-site health and safety standards.
- Lift and transport up to 50lbs of field equipment, walk on uneven ground, and work in outdoor elements while using required personal protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering program with at least two years of academic progress completed.
- Ability to work full-time for 4 or more consecutive months.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Initiative and a willingness to learn.
- A valid driver license is highly preferred.

- Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Includes early mornings based on project requirements.
