About the role#
The Sustaining Engineer/Drafting Intern supports manufacturing by creating CAD models and documentation for product development and improvement. This role involves updating existing catalog products, developing tooling, and refining designs to ensure high quality standards. You will work primarily at a desk but will move around the facility to consult with production teams.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain CAD models and manufacturing documentation using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for components and finished assemblies.
- Modify existing product designs to reduce costs, improve manufacturability, or enhance quality.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing floor to investigate drawing inaccuracies and resolve production issues.
- Implement new tools or processes for various manufacturing departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, or related degree program.
- 1-3 years of experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial awareness to prevent construction conflicts.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Clear communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to repetitive tasks.
