    About the role#

    This is a six month internship at Harlequin Trade Publishing, a division of HarperCollins Publishers. You will work with the publicity team on fiction and non-fiction campaigns for the Hanover Square Press, Park Row Books, and MIRA imprints. This role supports both the local team in Toronto and the publicity team based in New York. You will gain experience in creating and executing publicity campaigns, crafting pitches for various media, and coordinating author events.

    What you'll do#

    • Research, organize, and execute media campaigns, online reviews, features, and interviews for television and radio.
    • Create and manage media lists while logging media hits and interest.
    • Research media contacts and trends to pitch journalists, book reviewers, producers, and trade reporters.
    • Assist publicists in coordinating author events and bookstore tours.
    • Prepare pitch materials and attend meetings with media contacts to pitch titles.
    • Handle administrative support tasks, including mailings, shipping labels, and ordering books.
    • Submit authors and titles for book awards and festivals.
    • Assist with author appearances and events.

    What you'll need#

    • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong prioritization and follow-through skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasion and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • High level of organization and record-keeping skills.
    • Creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of books.
    • Relevant studies in Communications, Marketing, or English.

    • Location: Toronto, Ontario.
    • Modality: Hybrid.
    • Duration: Six months (September to March).
    • Compensation: $20 per hour.
    • Status: Full-time.
