About the role#
The Design Consultant Intern program at Havertys provides hands-on experience in the In Home Design process. You will work alongside the Store Manager and Interior Designer to learn how the company serves customers and manages its product line. This internship is designed to give you a clear understanding of the full design cycle, from initial measurements to final presentations.
What you'll do#
- Convert measured rooms into complete, precise, and detailed room plans.
- Use the Loft software to create designs with pre-set rooms.
- Review the HD Presentation process and prepare for client meetings.
- Upload homework photos to client profiles to create design rooms.
- Observe measurements, look up furniture availability, and create special orders for customer requests.
- Prepare for observed measures by selecting products and creating 2D and 3D models.
- Set up presentation areas and present plans to the Store Manager and Interior Designer for feedback.
What you'll need#
- An interior design degree from an accredited college or university, or relevant experience and training.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with email.
- Familiarity with a broad range of furniture styles and products is preferred.
- Ability to operate tablets and iPads is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Office 365 software is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to establish relationships with customers and associates.
- Ability to maintain a responsive schedule and work as a supportive team member.

- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Term: Summer 2026 (approximately 12 weeks).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship.
- Eligible majors include Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Business Administration, and Communications.
