About the role#
This is an unpaid internship offered through the Hire Vets Now SkillBridge Program. It is designed for transitioning active-duty military personnel to gain experience during their final 180 days of service. You will work on projects alongside a mentor and senior leadership to build skills relevant to a full-time career at Newport News Shipbuilding.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and design operation sequences and workflows to improve efficiency in production facilities.
- Establish methods to maximize the use of personnel and production equipment.
- Conduct studies on cost control, inventory management, and production records.
- Develop and implement plans for facility modifications and updates to operating methods.
- Assist facilities engineers with the planning and design of plant layouts.
What you'll need#
- You must be active-duty military within your final 180 days of service.
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Ability to begin the application process within your final 12 months of military service.
- Education and experience levels depend on your specific Program of Instruction.
