About the role#
HII is seeking a Corporate Legal Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in Newport News, Virginia, and requires a full-time, 40-hour work week for at least 10 weeks. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in in-house counsel duties at a publicly traded company.
What you'll do#
- Attend law department staff meetings and meetings with business units.
- Review Teaming Agreements and Nondisclosure Agreements.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
- Draft letters and other necessary documents.
- Attend meetings with outside counsel.
- Perform additional assignments as requested.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Commitment to continuing in a Juris Doctorate program in the fall following the internship.
- Interest or coursework in government contracting, commercial contracts, labor and employment, intellectual property, corporate law, compliance, litigation, or in-house practice.
- US citizenship is required for this position.
