About the role#
Independent Mechanical Supply is hiring an Accounting Intern for a four-month term. This position runs from September 7, 2026, to December 18, 2026. You will report to the Controller and gain hands-on experience by managing daily accounting tasks and supporting the month-end close process.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and book journal entries for fiscal month-end.
- Maintain financial records using internal trackers and AS400 software.
- Perform bank reconciliations and journalize daily cash transactions.
- Review and post credit card expenses.
- Assist the team with budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close tasks.
- Provide support to the Accounts Payable department and complete ad-hoc reporting as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a post-secondary program in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating across the organization.
- Previous experience in Accounting or Finance is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting systems is a plus.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with high attention to detail.
