About the role#
The Culinary Extern works directly with the chefs and the culinary team at The Resort at Pelican Hill. You will assist with daily meal preparation and kitchen operations to ensure high standards are met.
What you'll do#
- Check available food supplies like meat, sauces, produce, and spices to ensure enough stock for the shift.
- Set up your cooking station by gathering all required equipment and materials.
- Help prepare and plate food items accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace at all times.
- Follow health department guidelines and sanitation procedures, including proper food handling.
- Breakdown stations, store and label food, and power down equipment safely.
- Report any equipment maintenance needs, accidents, or safety hazards to management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a certified culinary school program.
- Valid health department certifications for kitchen work.
- Familiarity with various types of meat, seafood, and poultry, along with their preparation methods.
- Practical experience using standard kitchen equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Clear communication skills and a professional approach to working with staff.
