About the role#
The IT Knowledge Management team at Kwik Trip is looking for an IT Communications Intern. You will help create and improve technical documentation that supports employees across the organization. This role provides hands-on experience in technical writing, knowledge management, and content creation while you work alongside technical teams and business partners.
What you'll do#
- Create, update, and maintain knowledge base articles and various IT documentation.
- Gather information from subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
- Transform technical information into clear, user-friendly content for different audiences.
- Review and standardize documentation using established templates, style guides, and knowledge management standards.
- Improve the organization, consistency, and searchability of knowledge content.
- Identify outdated, duplicate, or missing documentation and suggest improvements.
- Support onboarding, training, self-service, and IT support initiatives through effective documentation.
- Incorporate feedback to improve content quality and usability.
- Assist with documentation projects that support knowledge management and AI-driven search initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree or certificate in Communications, Technical Writing, English, Information Technology, Training and Development, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to explain complex information in a clear, concise manner.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Bonus points for experience with ServiceNow, content management systems, Adobe Acrobat, or creating process documentation and flowcharts.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- This is a paid internship.
- The role is expected to last approximately six months, with potential for extension.
- You must be available to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester, with potential for additional hours during school breaks.
- Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate your academic commitments.
