About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse. This role supports the health care team by monitoring patient conditions and maintaining professional relationships with patients and their families. You will serve as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients while gaining clinical experience.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care and document all care given.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the supervising Registered Nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including nutrition, ambulation, personal hygiene, and elimination.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers and discharge needs.
- Evaluate the learning needs of patients and families and provide appropriate education.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with coworkers and the health care team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an approved school of nursing as a third-year student or higher.
- Expected graduation within 13 months of hire.
- Good standing with your nursing school and clinical competence to perform required tasks.
- Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) Health Care Provider certification.
