About the role#
This is an 11-week, full-time internship program for Summer 2027. You will work within the Meijer Compliance Department to gain practical experience in corporate compliance. The role involves supporting real business projects, interacting with senior leaders, and building the specialized skills required to become a compliance professional.
What you'll do#
- Support the team across various compliance areas, including Environmental, Food Safety, Workplace Safety, Recall, Product Compliance, Fuel Compliance, SNAP/WIC, and Alcohol & Tobacco.
- Conduct research on government enforcement trends and provide recommendations.
- Perform risk-based analysis of data.
- Learn to design and evaluate a modern corporate compliance program.
- Develop knowledge regarding the history and evolution of corporate compliance.
- Manage projects and communicate within a legal environment.
- Gain executive-level presentation skills by presenting your work in an internal meeting.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, finance, management, or a related field.
- Strong critical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as an independent thinker.
- Excellent oral and written communication, reading, and research skills.
- A high level of internal integrity and a self-starter mindset.
- Emotional intelligence and the ability to build professional relationships.
- Comfort working in a corporate environment with senior executives.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and a desire to learn additional technology tools.
- A passion to compete and a dedication to exceeding customer expectations.
