About the role#
This 11-week summer internship serves as an entry point into retail management at Meijer. You will spend the first half of the program learning store operations and leadership competencies. In the second half, you will step into an Intern Team Leader role to manage business results, team engagement, and the customer experience. This program is designed to build a foundation for future store leadership roles.
What you'll do#
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily operations.
- Mentor and coach team members, including onboarding and training new hires.
- Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
- Maintain store appearance and product presentation, especially during peak shopping hours.
- Support your department in managing P&L, sales goals, and inventory shrink.
- Model exceptional service and promote a safe work environment.
- Spend the majority of your time on the floor communicating with customers and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, ideally in Business Administration or Operations Management.
- A strong drive for results, customer focus, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Prior retail experience or past leadership roles in work or extracurricular activities are preferred.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship with a pay range of $20.50 to $30.05 per hour.
