About the role#
Mesh Optical Technologies is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join our engineering team. You will work directly on the codebase that operates our optical interconnect product and factory. This is a full-time, paid internship or co-op position where you will own real tasks rather than side projects.
What you'll do#
- Implement and test bare-metal drivers for interfaces like I2C, SPI, ADC, and DMA.
- Assist in node bring-up from initial power-on through firmware load.
- Debug hardware-software interactions by capturing and analyzing boot logs in the lab.
- Design and implement algorithms for link optimization and per-unit calibration using C++ and Python.
- Create software-based methods to automatically validate device operation and production processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- A portfolio of hands-on projects that include a hardware element, such as robotics, embedded firmware, or signal processing.
- Proficiency in Python and C or C++.
- Experience working in a Linux environment.
- Familiarity with low-level hardware interfaces like I2C, SPI, or ADC sampling.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems using first principles.
- Clear communication skills and an interest in multidisciplinary engineering concepts.

- Term: Rolling.
- Compensation: $26.00 to $38.00 per hour, based on academic year. Includes a flexible monthly housing and transportation stipend.
