About the role#
As a Software Platform Intern, you will join the Raytheon Software Engineering team for the Summer 2027 term. This position is part of the Raytheon Fellowship Program, which supports the development and maintenance of systems used to process intelligence and data for national defense missions. You will work on-site in Aurora, Colorado, to solve technical problems and contribute to infrastructure and automation projects.
What you'll do#
- Support infrastructure and DevOps build and automation activities.
- Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of operations concepts, requirements, and systems engineering artifacts.
- Integrate software and hardware subsystems to ensure functionality.
- Utilize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline development processes.
- Apply engineering principles to solve routine technical problems.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals.
- Leverage cloud technologies for platform optimization.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 30 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Active enrollment through the end of the internship session.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
- Experience with cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience applying basic engineering principles and working in collaborative teams.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, Go, PowerShell, or Java.
- Knowledge of DevOps processes, automation pipelines, and software development lifecycles.
- Exposure to cloud APIs, Chef Configuration Management, Ansible, and security engineering concepts.
