About the role#
Mid-Continent Group is looking for an Underwriting Intern to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the summer of 2027. This 10-week program offers a look into how our underwriting department functions and interacts with the rest of the organization. You will gain hands-on experience in risk evaluation and analysis while building professional relationships through mentorship and networking events. This position follows a hybrid work schedule and is a full-time commitment.
What you'll do#
- Assist underwriters in evaluating and analyzing risk for commercial general liability insurance policies.
- Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor analysis.
- Support the preparation of underwriting reports and documentation.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather information for underwriting decisions.
- Learn and use underwriting software and tools to support daily tasks.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss risk assessment and policy development.
- Assist in the review and processing of insurance applications and renewals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program, with a preference for majors in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proven leadership skills gained through work experience, campus involvement, or extracurricular activities.
- Superior communication, analytical, planning, and organizing skills.
