About the role#
As a Power Systems Model Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the accuracy and reliability of grid models. You will support model validation, data mapping, and process improvements. Your work helps maintain the datasets that support system reliability and market operations for 45 million people. You will gain experience with industry-standard tools like Siemens Model Manager and GE Energy Management System.
What you'll do#
- Validate model data and resolve mapping issues between systems.
- Improve modeling workflows and support custom modeling applications.
- Document your findings and communicate them to your immediate team and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Assist with materials used in internal technical reviews.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. Select teams are open to graduate students.
- Experience with a common programming language or coding techniques, with Python preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
- Preferred: Coding course experience in Python, C++, or Perl.
- Preferred: Coursework in Electric Power Systems.
- A self-starter mindset with curiosity about MISO and the ability to work well independently and within a team.
