About the role#
The Tax Intern role at Miller Kaplan supports our tax department under the guidance of senior professionals. This position offers hands-on experience in tax preparation, research, compliance, and planning. It is designed for students interested in a career as a Certified Public Accountant.
What you'll do#
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns while ensuring accuracy in all forms and supporting documentation.
- Research current tax laws and regulations to help interpret and apply them to client situations.
- Enter and organize financial data, such as income, expenses, and deductions, into tax preparation software.
- Assist the tax team with client inquiries and prepare materials for client meetings.
- Help prepare tax projections to assist clients with compliance and liability management.
- Manage and file tax documents, including supporting schedules and correspondence.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accountancy or an equivalent program.
- A current or most recent GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed research and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic knowledge of tax preparation software is a plus.
- Interest in pursuing CPA certification is encouraged.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
