About the role#
The Project Management Intern supports the Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance. This role assists with administrative, operational, and project-based tasks. You will contribute to countywide efforts in performance measurement, program management, and research analysis. This position is designed to help you build professional skills and explore a career in the public sector.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research for county programs and services.
- Perform data entry and analysis while managing databases for performance measurement.
- Track project timelines and deliverables using project management tools.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and presentations, take notes, and follow up on action items.
- Draft proposals, reports, newsletters, social media content, and stakeholder communications.
- Assist with event logistics, internal and external engagement, and stakeholder outreach.
- Provide general administrative support, including organizing files and documenting initiatives.
- Support Strategy and Budget Performance priorities and other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma.
- Intermediate knowledge of computer software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
- Strong communication skills for writing reports and speaking before groups.
- Experience or interest in political science, public administration, economics, urban studies, journalism, public relations, project management, or communications is preferred.
- Alumni of the Milwaukee County Youth Commission program are encouraged to apply.
