    About the role#

    Minnkota Power Cooperative is hiring an Engineering Intern for the Milton R. Young Power Plant near Center, North Dakota. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position for the summer of 2027. You will work directly with plant engineers to support operations at this two-unit coal-fired power plant.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and design packages.
    • Coordinate the preparation of construction drawings and specifications for plant process equipment.
    • Design and install replacement equipment.
    • Troubleshoot existing systems with the Operations and Maintenance teams to resolve safety or production issues.
    • Perform periodic performance testing on plant equipment.
    • Collect data for testing requirements and analyze the results.
    • Recommend modifications, repairs, or replacements for equipment.
    • Provide engineering support to other departments as needed.

    What you'll need#

    • Completion of at least two years of coursework toward a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree by the start of the internship.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • A valid driver's license.
    • Ability to meet the physical and mental requirements of the position.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Center, North Dakota.
    • Term: May through August 2027.
    • Compensation: $24.95 to $28.51 per hour plus a $500 monthly stipend.
