About the role#
MKS Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Valves Group for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, six-month position running from January 5, 2027, to June 30, 2027. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop vacuum valve products and solve technical customer problems in an indoor lab and office setting.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware for vacuum valve control.
- Assist with the design, debugging, and board bring-up of real-time embedded electronics.
- Conduct project activities such as design reviews, DFMEA, and the creation of technical specifications.
- Perform failure analysis for customers and develop corrective action plans to mitigate design issues.
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve component quality issues.
- Evaluate designs based on performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Communicate technical information clearly through oral and written reports.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program for Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a relevant major.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Proficiency with tools such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes for embedded systems development.
- A hands-on approach to problem solving and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- A strong sense of ownership and a desire for excellence.
