About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for Oshkosh vehicles. You will work alongside engineers and cross-functional teams to apply your classroom knowledge to real engineering challenges. This role involves contributing to meaningful projects, building technical skills, and seeing your designs come to life on actual products.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, development, and integration of vehicle electrical and embedded control systems.
- Assist with electrical system architecture and component selection based on performance, cost, weight, and manufacturability.
- Develop wire harness designs using 3D modeling tools and create electrical schematics.
- Perform circuit analysis and engineering calculations.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials and engineering documentation.
- Support prototype, pilot, and production vehicle builds on the assembly floor.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and provide technical support during builds and testing.
- Participate in testing and validation activities to evaluate system performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and manufacturing teams to solve technical challenges.
- Document engineering findings, design decisions, and test results.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Interest in vehicle electrical systems, embedded systems, controls, or electrical product development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
- Willingness to learn new engineering tools, technologies, and processes.
- Ability to relocate to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the duration of the summer.
