About the role#
MSD is offering a 10 to 12 week internship as part of our Future Talent Program. You will join our Discovery Biologics teams to work on research projects that support our drug discovery efforts. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027. You will work alongside mentors to gain hands-on experience in a research and development environment.
What you'll do#
- Participate in one or more projects within Discovery Biologics teams.
- Engage in drug discovery research projects.
- Specific project assignments may include antibody discovery, protein design or engineering, characterization and developability, protein expression and purification, or cell engineering and assay development.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, BA, MS, or Ph.D. in Biology, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies or one year of graduate studies by June 2027.
- Enrollment in an academic program at the time of application, with plans to continue your education for at least one semester or quarter after the internship ends in Fall 2027.
- Basic laboratory skills in molecular biology, cell culture, protein biochemistry, protein expression and purification, or protein characterization.
- Understanding and training in safe lab practices.
- Availability for full-time work from June through August 2027.
- A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
- Prior laboratory research experience is preferred.
- Experience in protein engineering, computational protein engineering, or machine learning is preferred.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

- Duration: 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027.
- Note: Applicants selected for interviews must be prepared to submit letters of recommendation, a brief research statement, and an academic transcript.
