    About the role#

    The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support the product development team by ensuring accurate component specification and design. You will work under the supervision of the Senior Product Engineer to assist with the integration of new designs into the manufacturing process.

    What you'll do#

    • Define and design component specifications for mechanical systems through the full design and manufacturing cycle.
    • Develop jigs and fixtures to support the installation of fiberglass parts, machined metal components, and upholstery substrates.
    • Generate engineering models, drawings, and Bills of Material for new designs.
    • Approve mechanical models and drawings for release and manage engineering change notices.
    • Evaluate vendor-supplied items for fit, finish, and performance.
    • Oversee product certification to USCG and NMMA standards, including the supervision of compliance testing.
    • Advise on the impact of new products, programs, and strategies.

    What you'll need#

    • A BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
    • 1-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably SolidWorks.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
    • Ability to manage your own work and make independent decisions with minimal supervision.
    • A valid driver's license, as this position is subject to an MVR check.
    • Preferred: Experience in the marine industry, watersports or boating experience, and the ability to trailer a boat.
    • A desire to work in a hands-on environment.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Orlando, Florida.
    • This role requires working in a non-climate-controlled factory environment where you may be exposed to dust and fiberglass.
    • You must be able to stand for extended periods, bend at the waist and knees, and lift up to 25 pounds.
    • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring you to remain fit for duty throughout the workday.
