About the role#
NexGold Mining Corp. is hiring a Community Relations Co-op Student for the Fall 2026 term. Based at the Goldboro Gold Project, this role supports community engagement, communications, and administrative tasks. You will report to the Manager of Community Relations and assist in building relationships with local residents, stakeholders, and Mi’kmaq communities. This is a paid, full-time position that requires regular travel within Nova Scotia and occasional work on evenings or weekends.
What you'll do#
- Support outreach and relationship-building with community members and organizations.
- Assist in planning and organizing logistics for community meetings, workshops, and engagement sessions.
- Prepare materials such as newsletters, presentations, and fact sheets.
- Attend and support Indigenous-led events alongside staff members.
- Maintain stakeholder contact lists, update engagement databases, and track metrics.
- Draft correspondence, meeting notes, and internal reports.
- Conduct research on local interests and project topics.
- Provide on-site support during community activities and perform administrative tasks like scheduling.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program in Public Relations, Community Studies, Indigenous Studies, Business Administration, Communications, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Cultural awareness and a willingness to learn about Mi’kmaq culture and protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools like Canva.
- A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a hybrid environment.
- Eligibility for grant program funding, including Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Lived experience with Mi’kmaq culture or rural communities in Nova Scotia is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Goldboro, Nova Scotia.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm AST.
- Term: September 8, 2026, to December 18, 2026.
- Modality: Hybrid, with regular travel to communities surrounding the project.
- Pay: $24.72 per hour.
