About the role#
This is a full-time internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the Risk team at OMERS in Toronto to support investment activities and help evolve investment strategies. The role involves working closely with investment professionals to understand business needs and provide analytical support.
What you'll do#
- Develop and improve liquidity risk frameworks to support funding requirements and investment strategies.
- Design liquidity and leverage dashboards in Power BI, including metrics like LCR, cash buffers, funding gaps, and margin forecasts.
- Write and maintain Python code for calculation engines, scenario configuration, and results reconciliation.
- Package reusable components for performance logging, input validation, and sensitivity runs.
- Build relationships across the Risk and investment teams to communicate business needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university degree program in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or Engineering.
- Strong coding skills in Python for automation, statistical modeling, and data analysis.
- Experience developing, testing, and deploying analytical models using libraries.
- Proficiency in Power BI for creating interactive dashboards with drilldowns and custom visuals.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective internal relationships.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn.
- Previous experience in pensions, capital markets, or risk management is a plus.
- Familiarity with Streamlit or similar frameworks is an asset.
