About the role#
This internship position is with the Sustainable Investing team at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. You will report to the Director of Sustainable Investing and work alongside colleagues across various investment departments. This role focuses on the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into investment processes for both public and private equity portfolios.
What you'll do#
- Benchmark and identify best practices in sustainability for public and private companies.
- Support ESG due diligence processes for private equity deals.
- Provide research and analytics to support the corporate engagement strategy.
- Assist in the assessment of climate change programs, including emissions reporting and action plans at the company and portfolio levels.
- Conduct research on ESG topics such as the energy transition, water risk, plastics, human capital management, and sustainable development goals.
- Support ongoing risk monitoring activities for equity portfolios.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate program or a related Master's program.
- Must be enrolled in a co-op program or returning to studies after the work term.
- An understanding of ESG factors and how they impact investment value.
- Knowledge of the investment industry, basic economics, or finance.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Majors considered include Finance, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, and Political Science.
