About the role#
Pella Corporation is looking for engineering students to join our manufacturing facility in Pella, Iowa, for a summer internship. This role offers hands-on experience with real manufacturing challenges. You will work alongside experienced engineers and mentors to develop your technical and leadership skills. You will take ownership of projects similar to those assigned to entry-level engineers, focusing on process improvement, quality, and efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Modify and improve manufacturing processes to increase reliability, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using engineering methodologies.
- Develop or enhance manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
- Specify, design, and procure equipment for manufacturing and new product initiatives.
- Implement new processes from initial concept through to production.
- Analyze manufacturing data to recommend solutions that improve operational performance.
- Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, and quality teams to support business objectives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Agricultural, or Industrial Technology.
- Strong academic standing.
- Demonstrated leadership or involvement through campus organizations, work, athletics, or volunteer activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge or AutoCAD is preferred.
- Experience leading projects or team efforts from planning through execution is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Pella, Iowa (on-site).
- Term: Summer 2027 (End of May through early August).
- Compensation: $27.90 per hour.
- This is a full-time, paid internship position.
