About the role#
The PJ Wallbank Springs Summer Engineering Intern Academy is designed for undergraduate college engineering students and graduating high school seniors. This is a full-time, on-site program based in Port Huron, Michigan, running from May to August 2027. We focus on hands-on experience, one-on-one coaching, and real-world engineering challenges rather than repetitive tasks. You will work across product design, equipment design, process engineering, and industrial engineering.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate across departments to solve engineering challenges, such as reducing downtime, improving quality, or increasing throughput.
- Own projects that require you to weigh system tradeoffs, think in systems, and use abstract reasoning to understand core problems.
- Participate in design, analysis, and process improvement.
- Reflect on your learning and present takeaways to your peers and leaders.
- Engage in interactive learning sessions and receive coaching to accelerate your professional growth.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college engineering degree program, with a preference for Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to apply physics, math, and logic to technical work.
- A natural curiosity and a genuine desire to learn quickly.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and asking clarifying questions.
- A willingness to accept coaching and strive for high standards.
