About the role#
Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer Intern to join the Surface Radars & Sensors Center in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. This role supports programs across naval undersea and surface domains, including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, and torpedoes. You will work alongside engineering teams to integrate hardware and software, debug system functions, and verify requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support systems engineering tasks across the design V-model, including requirements definition, architecture development, integration, verification, and validation.
- Conduct data analysis on acoustics, radar, and sonar information using tools like MATLAB.
- Perform requirements analysis, development, and management.
- Help maintain system requirements to ensure traceability through design, implementation, and test phases.
- Assist in the planning and execution of integration and test activities.
- Prepare and present technical results in reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or higher degree program in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 60 credit hours completed by the start of the internship.
- Must be at least entering your sophomore year by the summer of 2026.
- Experience using MATLAB or Python for data analysis and automation.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Experience troubleshooting electronics or using test equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers is preferred.
- Exposure to naval undersea or surface platforms is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
- The role is paid, with a salary range of 37,000 USD to 82,000 USD.
- An active and transferable U.S. government Secret security clearance is required prior to the start date.
