About the role#
Our Aurora, Illinois site is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op for the Winter 2027 term. This is a 6-month, full-time assignment. You will support the Slurries business unit by working with manufacturing engineers on mixing, blending, and filling room processes. You will lead a systematic refresh of critical process documentation and support quality investigations using process data. This role offers hands-on manufacturing experience and the chance to build a professional network across engineering, operations, and quality teams.
What you'll do#
- Create and update critical process documentation for Slurries lines, including SOPs, batch cards, response flow checklists, and work instructions.
- Audit existing documentation against current floor practices to identify gaps and outdated content.
- Support quality investigations and root-cause analysis on nonconformances, customer complaints, and scrap or rework drivers.
- Analyze quality and process data to identify variation and improvement opportunities.
- Build dashboards or reports that make quality performance visible to the team.
- Support audit and compliance readiness, including document control and training records.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams.
- Present project status and results to the Slurries leadership team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong technical writing skills to turn floor observations into clear procedures.
- Detail-oriented and organized approach to documentation.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, JMP, or Power BI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptable, proactive, and technologically savvy mindset.
- Familiarity with your university’s requirements for co-op participation.
