About the role#
This summer internship offers medical students an introduction to drug discovery and development within our Internal Medicine Clinical Development Unit. You will work on a specific project team focused on areas such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, or immunological and inflammatory diseases. Throughout the program, you will engage with company leadership, collaborate with hiring managers, and attend professional development sessions. You will also participate in team meetings, including Strategic Project Team and Global Clinical Sub Team sessions.
What you'll do#
- Complete a hands-on project that impacts the business.
- Conduct visual and descriptive analysis of clinical trial data from recent studies or databases.
- Review pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data from clinical trials.
- Train on basic statistical modeling techniques using SAS JMP, including data cleaning and linear regression.
- Learn Good Clinical Practice standards for human clinical trials.
- Present a summary of your research experiences to an internal audience at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited US medical school (MD program).
- Completion of at least the first-year basic science curriculum.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- An understanding of biostatistics, experimental design, and the scientific method is preferred.
- Experience with R studio, Python, SPSS, SAS, or SAS JMP is a plus.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week for 6-8 weeks between late May or early June and August.
