About the role#
RSM US LLP is hiring a Cyber Compliance Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time, on-site role is based in McLean, Virginia. You will join the Cyber Risk and Data Protection Consulting practice to assist clients with their information security and data privacy needs. You will work alongside security and privacy professionals to identify risks and manage systems that address client information requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct assessments to identify risks within cyber security governance compliance programs.
- Determine the technical and business impact of identified security issues and provide remediation guidance.
- Work with frameworks such as ISO, NIST, and CIS.
- Measure and report client compliance with requirements like PCI DSS, CMMC, FEDRAMP, GDPR, and CCPA.
- Contribute to the development of security governance and compliance programs.
- Support the implementation of eGRC tools to manage security programs.
- Develop metrics and reporting for security programs.
- Support presentations for executive management and Boards of Directors.
- Develop target operating models for cyber security programs, including budgets, resource levels, and reporting structures.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, Information Security, or a similar field.
- A technical background in computer science and related areas.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- Working knowledge of business process flows.
- Ability to interpret and explain technical information to various audiences.
- Integrity, confidentiality, and a commitment to company policies.
- A strong drive for continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and OneNote.
- Practical experience with IT infrastructure components like servers, firewalls, IDS systems, and network infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with security tools such as Nessus or Kali Linux.
- Experience with operating system configuration and security, including HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, or AIX.
- A basic understanding of secure network architecture design.
