About the role#
S&B is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join the team in Houston. You will perform routine assignments under close supervision, applying standard design techniques and procedures. Your work will be guided and reviewed by senior engineers. This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Support the preparation of finite element models for static and dynamic analyses, including global strength and spectral fatigue.
- Design and analyze new and existing marine structures.
- Perform structural analysis using standard beam analysis software and hand calculations.
- Document analysis methodology, results, and conclusions in technical reports.
- Collaborate in a team environment or work independently on multiple projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies.
- Familiarity with marine engineering guidelines like ABS and DNV Rules.
- Working knowledge of computer software and engineering design equipment.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, Rhinoceros 3D, or Solidworks is preferred.
- Previous internship experience is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Houston, Texas.
- You may occasionally visit operating plants or construction sites, which requires the ability to walk, climb, and lift up to 25 pounds.
