About the role#
Skender is looking for an Engineering Intern to join our Operations team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Chicago. You will learn the project management career path in construction by supporting the administration and documentation of our operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the administration, documentation, and organization of the Operations Department.
- Review construction techniques with the Superintendent and monitor their implementation.
- Maintain project schedules and change orders.
- Review contract documents to identify submittal requirements.
- Attend weekly project progress meetings.
- Focus on improving your leadership and management skills through personal development.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a 4-year degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of technical training and construction experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Aptitude for managing project documentation.
- Understanding of construction-related contract language.
- Ability to use project management and scheduling software.
- Fundamental knowledge of building construction, systems, and the bidding process.
- Interest in production management principles based on Lean philosophies.
