About the role#
Snappr News is launching a new editorial photo and video product focused on technology news in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a Visual Journalist Intern, you will cover tech stories including founders, workplace culture, policy, and on-the-ground events. You will help define how this new product captures moments that matter, working alongside the team to document stories beyond the press releases. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in San Francisco.
What you'll do#
- Report visually in the field, covering breaking news, events, portraits, features, and tech-focused stories.
- Produce both photo and video content on assignment, ranging from quick coverage to short-form storytelling.
- Write accurate, complete captions for every asset, including names, dates, and locations.
- Tag and package content in the proprietary Snappr News app, ensuring all keywords and legal information are correct.
- Follow photojournalistic ethics and standards at all times.
- Receive coaching from experienced photographers while working with provided high-end gear.
What you'll need#
- A strong photographic portfolio, with street photography accepted if you lack specific photojournalism experience.
- Solid video shooting skills.
- Extreme attention to detail and patience.
- A charismatic personality and a genuine interest in meeting new people.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Current enrollment in a relevant field like Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Art, or Graphic Design is preferred, with interest in candidates from local universities.
- A motorbike license is a plus, as the company has bikes available for use.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Summer 2026, for 8-12 weeks.
- Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend, evening, and on-call assignments.
- Compensation: $25 per hour for 40 hours per week, with approved travel expenses covered.
