About the role#
Sortation Labs, LLC is hiring a Co-Op Engineer for the Fall 2025 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in Louisville, Kentucky. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support all phases of controls projects, from initial research and design to on-site installation and troubleshooting. This role requires travel up to 50 percent of the time to customer facilities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with concept, research, and estimating for controls projects.
- Help design and develop electrical circuit layouts for power and control distribution.
- Support network design, panel design, and the production of detailed schematics.
- Perform PLC and HMI programming.
- Troubleshoot devices and systems in both office and field settings.
- Create system documentation and manuals.
- Contribute to project teams and communicate project status to colleagues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
- Basic knowledge of controls concepts and practices.
- Foundational skills in programming, design, and CAD software.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive data entry.
- Willingness to travel and work non-business hours as project needs dictate.
