About the role#
As a Controls Engineer Intern, you will provide hands-on support to the Process Controls Engineering team. You will work on designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for wire and cable manufacturing processes. This role focuses on process automation, data integration, and continuous improvement. You will receive mentorship from experienced engineers and participate in a project that you will present at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of process control system enhancements.
- Support data collection and analysis efforts to improve process efficiency and product quality.
- Integrate and organize data from various sources for real-time monitoring and reporting.
- Document projects, including control system schematics and operating procedures, using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools.
- Contribute to troubleshooting and resolving basic control system and networking issues.
- Engage in learning activities related to programming environments like Siemens TIA Portal, Step7, and Rockwell RSLogix 5000.
- Attend cross-functional meetings and support collaboration among engineering, IT, and production teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of industrial automation or control systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks with supervision.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tools relevant to process controls and manufacturing automation.
