About the role#
Steffes is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Intern or Co-op to join our team in Dickinson, North Dakota. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work directly in the production shop to learn our processes, monitor capacity, and recommend improvements.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain manufacturing process definitions, including Standard Assembly Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and Basic Operating Procedures.
- Lead productivity improvement projects, including implementing training and tracking progress.
- Participate in LEAN events such as Kaizens, value stream mapping, 5S, and VAVE.
- Document and manage Non-conformance requests, Engineering Change Requests, and Engineering Change Notices.
- Design plant layouts for equipment, material flow, and storage.
- Perform time and motion analysis studies to help the company meet quality and safety objectives.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of engineering coursework in Mechanical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering.
- Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Physical ability to climb ladders and stairs, as well as stoop, crouch, kneel, and bend.
- Visual acuity to inspect completed work.
- Ability to work in a production environment with varying internal and external conditions.
