About the role#
The Design Engineer Intern supports the creation, revision, and maintenance of manufacturing processes. You will work directly on the shop floor to resolve production issues and contribute to the efficiency of our operations. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Dickinson, North Dakota.
What you'll do#
- Participate in projects focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
- Take part in LEAN events, including Kaizens, Value Stream mapping, 5S, and VAVE.
- Create, document, and maintain standard work instructions for production and administrative tasks.
- Conduct time and motion analysis studies to evaluate current workflows.
- Spend time in the production shop to learn existing processes and recommend improvements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of engineering coursework, specifically in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Intermediate computer skills, including Windows, email, and internet navigation.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist.
