About the role#
This PhD internship within the Global Technology Business Unit supports advanced materials analysis and R&D innovation at our Corporate Technology Center. You will work on projects that contribute to team success while building on your classroom experience. The program includes a dedicated mentor, professional development workshops, networking events, and executive exposure.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on testing using analytical instruments including SEM/EDS, XRF, Raman, TGA, DSC, Rotational Rheometer, DMA, Capillary Rheometer, TGA-GC/MS, and FTIR.
- Support advanced material analysis for R&D projects and internal customers.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical test reports.
- Solve problems creatively in a laboratory environment while working independently.
- Document experiments and procedures.
- Communicate findings with internal and external customers.
- Conduct literature searches and perform scouting activities on technology material formulation.
- Gain knowledge of polymeric materials, physical properties, formulation, and structure-property relationships.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or pursuing a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in your major.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with analytical instruments such as SEM/EDS, XRF, Raman, TGA, DSC, Rotational Rheometer, DMA, Capillary Rheometer, TGA-GC/MS, and FTIR.
- Knowledge of polymeric materials, physical properties, formulation, and processing.
- Ability to perform literature searches and scouting activities.
- Problem-solving ability and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Prior internship or major project experience is preferred.
