About the role#
This co-op position offers the chance to work on a variety of projects focused on the fabrication and assembly of Tigercat products. You will use CAD to develop custom tooling, fixturing, and material handling devices. These projects aim to improve the safety and quality of our equipment. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement custom tooling and material handling devices.
- Create designs for heavy duty, welded steel fabrications.
- Manage detail drawings and maintain bills of material.
- Coordinate design changes with the manufacturing team.
- Support lean practices including 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and visual controls.
- Calibrate, validate, and maintain tools and testing equipment, including the certification of lifting devices.
- Gather and analyze feedback from shop employees to evaluate your results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree program or a Mechanical Engineering Design Technologist diploma.
- Preference for 3rd and 4th year students.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling, specifically SolidWorks.
- A comprehensive understanding of technical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and unexpected events in a shop environment.
- A proactive approach to taking on technical tasks.
Location & details#
- Locations: Cambridge, ON and Brantford, ON.
- Work modality: On-site only.
- Compensation: $26 to $29 per hour, plus 6% vacation pay.
