About the role#
The Soil and Crop Modeling team develops simulation technologies to design and optimize agricultural equipment. You will work with engineers to simulate how soil and crop materials interact with machine components. This role involves using advanced modeling techniques to evaluate machine performance in virtual environments before physical testing begins.
What you'll do#
- Develop and validate virtual dust and debris models for heavy machinery and field operations.
- Use coupled Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software.
- Measure physical and mechanical dust and debris properties in the laboratory and the field.
- Process experimental data to improve simulation models.
- Build coupled DEM-CFD models to simulate dust generation, particle transport, and equipment interaction.
- Expand the existing library of virtual dust and debris models.
- Work with soil modeling, design, simulation, and test engineering teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate, Technical, Bachelor’s, or Post-graduate degree program.
- Academic focus in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Biological/Biosystem/Bioresource Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
